Challenge

What they were up against

  • A fragmented buyer experience across a network of independent merchants.
  • Cost and competitiveness pressure on the merchants themselves.
  • A sophisticated platform to build from scratch, against a tight deadline.
  • A small engineering footprint to build and then scale it.
Outcomes

What came of it

  • A fully engineered platform launched in seven months, design included.
  • Merchant transaction costs cut from 7% to 2%, with 5%+ cost savings delivered.
  • Buyers able to find the lowest price, keep project-specific material flows and consolidate purchasing.
  • Merchants reaching new customer segments through expanded digital sales channels.
What we built

The work

Devtech ran discovery, design and engineering: a multi-tenant marketplace on a microservice architecture supporting a B2B2C model, with the whole commerce lifecycle in one system.

The team delivered the core merchant dashboard and the AI-agent-driven capabilities on top of it, working in Scrum with CI/CD and continuous risk management.
